- Why did you find it useful?
Well, I would like to tell you about an exciting and useful book that I read last year during the sensitive times of Covid-19. You know the situations were pretty tense in May 2020 because of the Coronavirus, and the world was under strict lockdown. At that time, I had nothing interesting to watch on Netflix. So, I decided to read an inspirational book.
What type of book is it?
The book is “Emma and I” by Sheila Hocken. It is an autobiography, and it is written with candour and heart. Sheila Hocken is a writer and canine specialist, and she is best known for her book Emma & I. The author was born in 1946, and she is British and currently living in her home country.
What is it about?
The story of this book revolves around the young Sheila and her pet Emma, a chocolate labrador puppy. In this book, she expressed the purest bond of love of Emma with her. She was born with a condition that led to progressive vision loss, and Emma helped her a lot during her difficult time.
Why did you find it useful?
I find the book useful because it teaches me how every soul is valuable regardless of race. Frankly speaking, I never was a dog lover. But after reading the book, I got a good lesson on empathy. I have learnt a lot from Emma and Sheila. It is a must-read for everyone, this sweetly touching book will warm your heart and possibly make you cry.
