Describe a time when you changed your opinion

  • When was it?
  • What was the original opinion?
  • Why you changed it?
  • And explain how you felt about it?

Introduction:

I am the kind of person who rarely changes his opinions. However, some stories changed my viewpoint. Today I would love to share one of those incidents that changed my thinking.

When was it?

Last year, during the lockdown, I read an article on a website about the deteriorating quality of the air due to air pollution. This article changed my opinion about diesel engines.

What was the original opinion?

Before reading the article, I believed that diesel engines are the best compared to petrol engines. I am not saying I was wrong. However, I was wrong if I relate both of them to the environment. It is an irrefutable fact that both engines are bad for the environment, but the diesel engines are the worst.

Why you changed it?

After reading the article, I learned that fumes released by the diesel engine pollute the air 7 times more than that of the petrol engines. For example, when you drive a petrol car, you contaminate the air 7 times lesser than those who drive diesel cars. It means pollutants generated by a single diesel car are equivalent to pollutants generated by 7 petrol cars. The article on the Internet totally changed my opinion.

And explain how you felt about it.

I felt pretty bad after knowing about the reality. No doubt diesel engines are powerful than petrol engines. However, petrol engines are still polluting less. Nature and mankind need a clean atmosphere. Therefore, I decided to buy a petrol car instead of a diesel. In nearby future, I will switch to electric cars because electric vehicles are eco-friendly.

Thank you!

Youngsters take advice from their parents and elder siblings. For example, when I was a teen, I used to go to my elder sister to take a piece of advice.

It truly depends on the nature of the people. I see pretty few people who are politically active in my surrounding. Some people love to express their political views, and such people prefer to do it privately. Most people do not want to mess with politicians, especially in nations governed by corrupt governments.
